Is it permissible to teach and instruct from a Christian novel that contains scandalous and poisonous stories in a school textbook, and would the teacher be sinful for doing so if they were to be subjected to legal accountability?

If the story contradicts Islamic creed and violates public morals, the teacher is not permitted to teach it unless they clarify its falsehood and refute its contents. As for the student, they are permitted to study it if they possess the understanding and insight that enables them to refute misconceptions and avoid being influenced by them; otherwise, it is not permissible. Scholars have differentiated between those firmly rooted in faith and others regarding the permissibility of examining distorted books to refute opponents. Accordingly, studying philosophy or any material that mocks the verses of Allah is not permissible except for the knowledgeable person who is confident in themselves and intends to refute falsehood.
