Is zakat due on gold deposited in banks or that which is used, and is zakat due on the gold of a minor?

Zakat (definition) is obligatorily due on gold deposited in banks or traded with, by scholarly consensus. It is also obligatory for a girl before puberty according to the majority of scholars. As for gold worn by women as adornment, the majority opinion is that Zakat is not obligatory on it, while the Hanafis and some scholars hold that it is obligatory. Whoever takes a cautious approach, it is better for them. It is obligatory to investigate the institution where the gold is deposited and ensure that it does not deal with usury.
