Is it permissible to go on a fishing trip on Friday with irreligious colleagues, and if I go, is Friday prayer obligatory, and how are prayers performed at sea with the combining and shortening of prayers?

Firstly: If accompanying uncommitted colleagues will benefit both them and you, such as encouraging them to prayer and good deeds and deterring them from evil, then there is no harm in it. However, if there is a fear of them leading one astray and lacking piety, then it is advisable not to accompany them, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not accompany anyone but a believer, and let no one eat your food except a pious person," and his saying: "A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends."

Secondly: If the journey distance (by land or sea) is a distance that permits shortening prayers (approximately 80 km or more), then you are travelers, and Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) is not obligatory for you. It is recommended to shorten prayers and combine Dhuhr and Asr, and Maghrib and Isha. However, if the distance is less, and you can hear the call (the muezzin's voice without a loudspeaker, about 5 km), then Jumu'ah and congregational prayer are obligatory for you. If you cannot hear the call, then Jumu'ah and congregational prayer in the mosque are not obligatory for you, but you must pray in congregation wherever you are.

Thirdly: It is advised not to go out for recreation or hunting on Friday if it will cause you to miss Jumu'ah prayer. However, if it will not cause you to miss it, then there is no harm. It is forbidden to travel on Friday after the second adhan (call to prayer) if it leads to missing Jumu'ah prayer.

Fourthly: You pray at sea as you pray on land, unless you fear drowning, in which case you pray according to the circumstances, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying about praying on a ship: "Pray in it standing, unless you fear drowning."
