What is the ruling on one who prostrates to Allah without ablution upon hearing a verse requiring prostration?

The jurists differed regarding the requirement of purity for the prostration of recitation (Sujud al-Tilawah). The majority of jurists held that it is a requirement, like all other conditions for prayer (Salat), while others maintained that it is not a requirement. The more authoritative opinion is that of the majority of jurists. Therefore, whoever prostrates for recitation without purity, their prostration is not valid.
