Is it permissible for a man to bury his deceased wife, and is it reported that the Noble Messenger buried one of his wives?

It is permissible for a husband to bury his wife; in fact, he has more right to do so than others, provided that he did not have sexual intercourse on the night she passed away. This is based on the hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): "We attended the burial of a daughter of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him). He (the narrator) said: 'Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) was sitting by the grave.' He said: 'I saw his eyes shedding tears.' He then said: '(Is there any man among you who has not had sexual intercourse tonight?)' Abu Talha said: 'I have not.' He said: '(Then descend into her grave.)' He (the narrator) said: 'So he descended into her grave.'" It is also authentically reported from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: "(What harm would it do you if you died before me, and I performed your Ghusl (ritual washing), shrouded you, offered the funeral prayer for you, and buried you?)"
