What is the ruling on one who is not convinced by the scholars' interpretation of Hadith and the Qur'an, and believes that her intellect qualifies her to interpret them, and is her rejection of the interpretation she is not convinced by considered a rejection of the Hadith, and is what the sister did by asking about the ruling on this friend considered backbiting?

If the sister is rational, then the dictate of reason is to refer to specialists in every field, just as one refers to doctors for treatment. Religion is even more deserving of referring to people of knowledge due to its profound importance, because delving into it without knowledge is a major sin. Allah says: "and that you say about Allah what you do not know" (Al-A'raf: 33). Allah has commanded asking the people of remembrance when ignorant, as Allah says: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know" (An-Nahl: 43). And in the Hadith: "Why did they not ask if they did not know? Indeed, the cure for ignorance is asking." Therefore, she must fear Allah and not delve into religion based on whim, nor reject the interpretations of scholars or the sacred texts based on her desires, because that is a grave danger. If the purpose of the conversation is to advise her and clarify what is correct for her, then that is not backbiting.
