What is the ruling on defaming a girl on social media, which has affected her studies, social life, and suitors?

The perpetrator must repent to Allah, rectify what they have corrupted, and clear the girl's name in the eyes of those who slandered her reputation. As for the girl, she should be patient, seek her reward with Allah, and strive to demonstrate her innocence. If she has committed a sin, she must repent, for repentance erases what came before it.
