What is the ruling regarding prayers performed after wiping over the khuff (leather socks) having removed the shoes, and must they be repeated?

If the footwear consists of khuffayn (leather socks or boots), and you wiped over them, performed wudu' (ablution), and prayed before taking them off, then your prayer is valid. However, if you took them off after wiping over them but before praying, the majority of scholars believe that removing them invalidates the wiping and the wudu', and therefore your prayer is invalid and you must repeat it. Whereas Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agreed with him hold that removing the khuff does not invalidate wudu', and your prayer is valid in this case, but it is not permissible to wear the khuffayn again and wipe over them after taking them off. The safer course of action is to adopt the view of the majority and repeat the prayers. If the footwear consists of na'layn (sandals), wiping over them is not permissible unless they are worn over socks or khuffayn that cover the obligatory part of the foot.
