Is it permissible to supplicate using the noble verse: "O Azīz (Almighty one), adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with meager merchandise, so fulfill for us the measure and be charitable to us," intending Allah by it?

The Muslim should preferably supplicate with the reported (ma'thur) supplications, due to their richness and sufficiency. Allah's name "Al-Aziz" (The All-Mighty) is permissible to use for seeking intercession (tawassul) through it. However, the phrase "Ya Aziz, give us full measure" is a human address from humans to humans, and Allah the Exalted and Most High is far above being likened to humans. Furthermore, it might suggest that the supplicant has a right over Allah, whereas no one has a right over Allah except what He Himself has made incumbent upon Himself. It is preferable to avoid this supplication in public so that the common people do not mistakenly think it is one of the reported supplications.
