Must a wife obey her husband and wear the niqab if he orders her to do so, even if that causes her distress and sorrow?

The evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah mandates that a woman cover her face, such as Allah’s saying: “they should draw over themselves some of their outer garments,” and His saying: “and to draw their headcovers over their chests.” In application of this, the Muhajirat (emigrant women) tore their izars (waist wrappers) and covered themselves with them. In this, there is an obedience to Allah’s command and the husband’s command, and a conformity to the Shari’ah. It brings happiness to the home, repels Satan, and preserves honor, something that many niqabi women who do not compromise their niqab have realized.
