What is the ruling on the Hajj of a deceased man who performed 'Umrah and stood at 'Arafah, but was unable to complete the Ifadah circumambulation (tawaf al-ifadah) and the ritual walking (sa'i) due to severe illness, knowing that one of his brothers cast the pebbles on his behalf and the sacrifice for tamattu' Hajj was slaughtered on his behalf?

This man passed away and is no longer obligated to perform any deeds. His standing at Arafat indicates the sincerity of his intention to perform the rituals. We hope that Allah records a Hajj for him, based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "If a servant falls ill or travels, what he used to do when healthy and at home will be recorded for him." And based on his saying about the one who died at Arafat: "Wash him with water and sidr, and shroud him in his two garments, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment reciting the Talbiyah." Ibn Uthaymeen favored the view that the remaining rituals are not to be performed on his behalf.
