What is the way to get rid of constant contemplation of a specific supplication that has not yet been answered, which has negatively affected family, professional, and psychological life, despite an inner certainty of its imminent answer, and the coincidence of signs that the supplicant interprets as indications of an answer? And why is the non-response to a supplication justified by "it may not be good for you," even though Allah is capable of removing any harm or changing any destiny related to that supplication?

The answer to the two questions—the first about why this world is a realm of trial and test, and the second about why prayers are not always answered—is summarized as follows:

1. The Wisdom of Trials: Making this world a realm of trial and test is a requirement of Allah’s profound wisdom, due to the immense benefits contained therein that human minds cannot encompass. Ibn al-Qayyim explains that this trial is part of the perfection of Allah’s Lordship and Divinity, as it reveals His Most Beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes. It is not possible to invalidate this abundant good for the sake of a partial evil, for partial evil is a necessary consequence of total good, and the existence of a thing necessitates the existence of its consequences.

2. Answering Prayers: The answering of a prayer does not always mean granting the exact thing requested at that specific time. Rather, it occurs in one of three ways: expediting the request, saving it for the Afterlife, or averting an equivalent evil. Allah may withhold the requested item for a reason or out of mercy. A Muslim should have good expectations of his Lord and be content with His decree. One must also beware of neglecting their worldly and family duties under the pretext of awaiting an answer to prayer, as this is a form of helplessness, and Satan adorns it for them as trust in Allah, whereas it is weakness in faith. True reliance on Allah combines prayer with taking the necessary means, and neglecting means under the pretext of reliance is helplessness and negligence.
