Is the answered prayer—that we were not gladdened by—considered good, and is it better to supplicate or to leave matters to the will of fate?

Allah has commanded His servants to supplicate and has promised them a response. Supplication is an act of worship, so one should not abandon supplication even if the prayer is not answered, because supplication itself is worship. Scholars have differed as to which of the two is more preferable: supplication or silence and contentment? The preponderant view is supplication, to demonstrate humility and dependence, and to gain reward by obeying the command.

Therefore, it is best for a Muslim to supplicate to Allah Almighty and to be persistent in their supplication for what they wish for and what contains benefit and good, from permissible matters, while avoiding supplication for sin or cutting off kinship, and avoiding aggression in supplication.
