Is it permissible to wipe off the ritual impurity splattered from the toilet during defecation with tissue paper, or is washing obligatory?

Filth must be removed from the body with water until its trace and substance are eliminated. Wiping it with a tissue is not sufficient, with the exception of istijmar (cleansing with stones or other dry materials) after relieving oneself. Jurists have agreed that water is purer, and that istijmar is a concession and a dispensation.

As for purifying other parts of the body from filth, it is done only with water according to the four schools of thought, contrary to the Hanafis who permitted its removal with any pure liquid such as vinegar.

If the filth spreads beyond the exit point, then nothing but water is sufficient for its purification by consensus, because istijmar is a dispensation specific to the customary area.

If filth touches clothing, it must be washed with water, and wiping it with a tissue is not sufficient.
