Must one repeat the ritual bath (ghusl) and prayer (salat) if they found nail polish on their fingernail after performing ghusl from janabah (major ritual impurity) and prayer, knowing that the nail polish was on the fingernail at the time of janabah?

Prayer with incomplete purification is invalid and must be repeated, based on the Almighty’s saying: (O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying, or in a state of ritual impurity [junub] except those passing through, until you have bathed). The reality of ghusl (bathing) is to make water reach all the outer parts of the body.

Scholars differed regarding ghusl in which a part of the body was not washed: 1. Some of them said: Re-doing the ghusl is not obligatory; rather, it is obligatory to complete the ghusl by washing the part that the water did not reach, with a renewed intention if a long time has passed. 2. Some of them made it obligatory to repeat the entire ghusl if a long time has passed, which invalidates al-muwalat (successive performance), which they consider a condition for the validity of purification, citing the hadith of the man whom the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered to repeat his ablution and prayer due to a dry spot that water had not reached. 3. Some of them made al-muwalat obligatory in wudu’ (ablution) but not in ghusl, adhering to the previous hadith.

Adopting the view that al-muwalat is obligatory in both wudu’ and ghusl is more cautious and more absolving of responsibility.
