What is the ruling on a daughter reclaiming the gift and money she had given to her father after his death?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the gift was made with its legitimate conditions, then the father has owned the gift, and it becomes part of his estate after his death. The daughter has no right to it except her legitimate share of the inheritance, and she is not allowed to reclaim it even if the father is alive, due to the hadith: "The one who takes back his gift is like a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit." Revoking a gift to relatives other than descendants is forbidden by scholarly consensus after possession has been taken.
