Does the ruling regarding the revocation of a gift, "like a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit," apply to a father's revocation of a gift to his son?

The majority of scholars, citing the hadith: "The one who takes back his gift is like a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit," have inferred the impermissibility of revoking a gift. They have made an exception for a father's gift to his child, based on the hadith: "It is not permissible for a man to give a gift and then take it back, except for a father in what he gives to his child." This is the view of the majority of scholars: Malik, Shafi'i, and Ahmad. The permissibility of a father revoking a gift is conditional on it not involving the right of a third party, or passing out of his ownership, or leading to commitments.
