Qunut in Fajr prayer is a matter of scholarly disagreement regarding its permissibility. Persistent practice of it is not from the . However, if someone performs it based on an interpretation, they have their interpretation. The congregant should follow their Imam in matters where (independent reasoning) is permissible. So, if the Imam performs Qunut, they should perform it with him, and if he omits it, they should not perform it. The Imam's error does not extend to the congregant. Therefore, the Imam's performance of Qunut is not a justification for staying away from Fajr prayer. Worshippers must fear Allah and refrain from issuing fatwas without knowledge.
