Is it obligatory to provide for adult children who are studying at university and receive a monthly stipend?

We have previously clarified the statements of the jurists regarding the maintenance of adult children. The majority opinion is that there is no maintenance obligation on the father for his adult son. This difference of opinion applies specifically to those who do not have sufficient wealth to support themselves. As for those who are self-sufficient, they are not included in this disagreement. If a dispute arises, the ruling of the Sharia judge is decisive.
