Listening to music and singing are forbidden by scholarly consensus. Several authentic hadiths have been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warning against the emergence of musical instruments and female singers, and the drinking of alcoholic beverages in the End Times. These hadiths mention that this will be a cause for occurrences of earthquakes, metamorphoses, and pelting (with stones) for some of this Ummah, as is found in the hadiths of 'Imran ibn Husayn, Sahl ibn Sa'd, and Abu Malik al-Ash'ari.
