A pilgrim in a state of must avoid perfumes and anything that contains them, whether medicine or soap. However, if a pilgrim needs to use ointments and medications, they must use what is free of perfume, such as using aloe vera for the eyes. But if they cannot find medicine except that which contains perfume, then it is permissible for them to use it, with the obligation of offering a (expiation), which is: fasting for three days, or feeding six poor persons, or sacrificing a sheep.
