What is the ruling regarding a small, excused amount of impurity in a large quantity of food, such as flowing blood, and is it permissible to eat this food?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on a small amount of impurity that is pardoned [by the Sharia] if it falls into food. Some do not pardon it in food, while others have equated food with other things in terms of pardoning it. This latter view is the most plausible; it is a position within the school of Imam Ahmad and was chosen by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah.
