What do you do when you have deceived your friends by telling them you have a boyfriend abroad with untrue stories, and you feel remorseful and anxious about confessing to them for fear of losing their trust?

Praise Allah that you became aware of the sin of lying and pretending to have engaged in a forbidden relationship. You must abandon this sin and resolve never to return to it, so that your repentance may be correct and complete. You are not required to tell your friends that you were lying to them. If they ask you about the friend, say: "I repented to Allah after learning of the impermissibility of a relationship between a young man and a young woman."
