How can things resembling miracles come to pass for disbelievers?
It is not surprising that extraordinary feats are performed by disbelievers or people of innovation (Ahl al-Bid'ah), as these are from the devils, luring them (into error). As Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah clarified, extraordinary feats can occur for disbelievers, polytheists, People of the Book, hypocrites, and people of innovation. They do not indicate Allah's guardianship (wilayah). Rather, Allah's guardianship is known by their attributes and actions, which are indicated by the Qur'an and Sunnah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned against the Dajjal (Antichrist) because of the doubts he would spread, and he advised staying away from him. Ibn Battah al-Ukbarī reminded of the danger of sitting with people of desires (Ahl al-Ahwa') because of the doubts they might introduce, warning against risking one's religion. Similarly, it is not permissible for a Muslim to watch films that contain forbidden elements such as music or unveiled women.
