In Arabic, a "phantom" (shabah) is a person or what appears of a person, and its use is predominantly for images of the deceased. The "soul" (ruh) is that by which life exists, and it departs the body upon death. It is from the command of Allah, and humans do not comprehend its true nature. As for "jinn," they are another realm distinct from humans and angels. They were created from fire, possess intellect and perception, and they (jinn) see humans from where humans do not see them. Jinn have ranks, escalating from a Jinn to an Ifrit.
