Is there anything in Islam that proves the existence of a person possessing these strange qualities and abilities claimed by this man?

None knows the unseen save Allah the Almighty. This has been proven by texts from the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah. Allah may choose to apprise some of His messengers of a portion of the unseen. However, divine revelation ceased with the passing of the Messenger, peace be upon him, thus there is no longer any room for claiming knowledge of the unseen thereafter. As for visions, they may be truthful, and some of the unseen may be realized through them. What has been mentioned about the person referred to is nothing more than superstition and charlatanry.
