The default state of things and creatures is purity (tahara). Nothing is ruled impure (najis) except with a legal (shar'i) proof. Every animal that does not have flowing blood is pure, such as flies, ants, and scorpions. If it dies in a liquid, it does not render the liquid impure. 3. Animals that commonly interact with people and are difficult to guard against, such as cats, donkeys, mules, and mice, are pure, even if their meat is not permissible to eat. 4. Dogs and pigs are impure. 5. Beasts of prey and predatory birds, such as tigers, lions, and falcons, are a matter of scholarly disagreement, but the most preponderant opinion is their purity.

In summary, all animals are pure in their lifetime, with the exception of dogs and pigs.
