The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us that Satan would flee from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, and that Satan would not take a path taken by Umar but would take another path. This occurred in multiple situations, including women fleeing from the Prophet upon Umar's arrival, and jinn and humans fleeing upon his arrival, and a young woman who was playing the daff (tambourine) throwing it down when she saw him.

This characteristic was a miraculous honor Allah bestowed upon Umar due to the perfection of good qualities within him, and his truthful and strong stance regarding the truth, as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Satan only gains power over a human through his desires, and Umar suppressed his desires."
