What is the ruling regarding someone who sleeps during Tawaf or Sa'i while being carried?
According to the majority of jurists, ritual purity (taharah) is a prerequisite for the validity of circumambulation (tawaf). Therefore, if a person performing tawaf sleeps in a manner that invalidates ablution (wudu), their tawaf becomes void. However, if their sleep does not invalidate wudu, their tawaf remains valid. As for the ritual walking between Safa and Marwa (sa'y), purity is not a prerequisite for it. Thus, if a person performing sa'y sleeps, it does not affect their sa'y.
