The Companion through whom Negus embraced Islam was Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him. He had emigrated to Abyssinia and was the reason for Negus's conversion to Islam. Then he emigrated to Medina. He was among the early converts to Islam, and he was martyred at Mu'tah in the eighth year of the Hijra. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave him the title "At-Tayyar (the Flyer), the one with two wings."
