What is the ruling on the supplications (duas) widespread on the internet, such as "Du'a of Love and Subjugation of Hearts" and "Du'a for Facilitating Marriage," especially if they are based on Quranic verses, and are they considered a Bid'ah (innovation in religion)?
It is legislated to recite some Quran with the intention of ruqya (exorcism/healing) or to attain a permissible need, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no harm in ruqya as long as it does not involve polytheism ()," and his saying: "Whoever recites the Quran, let him ask Allah through it."
As for specifying numbers and times, these may be considered additive innovations (bid'ah idafiyyah), according to Al-Shatibi, who stated that innovation includes "adhering to specific manners and forms at specific times for which such specification is not found in the ." And according to Bakr Abu Zayd, "among innovations is the specification without proof of reciting a verse or a at a certain time, in a certain place, or for a certain need."
