I am asking about the biography/translation of Al-Layth ibn Sa'd, may Allah Almighty have mercy on him.

Al-Layth ibn Sa'd is Abul-Harith, Al-Layth ibn Sa'd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Fahmi. He was born in the year 94 AH and passed away in 174 AH. He was an Imam, a Hafiz (memorizer of the Quran), the faqih (jurist) and muhaddith (scholar of Hadith) of Egypt, the scholar of the Egyptian lands, and Shaykh al-Islam. He heard from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah, Ibn Abi Mulayka, and many others. A great number of people narrated from him, including Ibn Wahb and Ibn al-Mubarak. He was a respected and prominent figure in Egypt, to the extent that the governors, judges, and administrators of Egypt would refer to his opinion and counsel. Al-Mansur wanted him to act as his deputy in governing the province, but he excused himself from that. His virtues are many and are mentioned in biographical works such as Siyar A'lam al-Nubala' (Biographies of Noble Figures).
