Abu Hayyan is Yahya ibn Sa'id ibn Hayyan al-Taymi. He was from the generation of the Followers of the Followers (Atba' al-Tabi'in). He resided in Kufa and died in the 145th year of the Hijra. Al-Shaykhan (Bukhari and Muslim) narrated from him, and a number of imams authenticated him, including Ibn Ma'in, Al-Nasa'i, Abu Hatim, and Al-Ijli.
