The answer

Obeying parents is obligatory in matters that do not involve disobedience (to Allah) or harm. Disobeying them is considered disobedience (to parents), even in a simple matter, even if they are disobedient [to Allah], provided that there is a benefit for them and no harm to the son. All disobedience [to parents] is forbidden, but it is not considered a major sin unless it involves clear harm to the parents. One must beware of disobeying parents and adhere to obeying them as much as possible. As for lying, it is forbidden and a major sin.
