Is it permissible for me to remain alone in a taxi after all other passengers have disembarked?

Scholars have differed on whether a woman riding alone with a non-mahram driver constitutes khalwa (private seclusion). Some consider it khalwa, while others do not, provided it is in the city center, as is the view of Sheikh Al-Albani, who inclines towards it not being khalwa in large vehicles such as minibuses and buses. However, even if khalwa is absent, this does not mean that riding is permissible absolutely. Rather, the matter depends on the predominant assumption of safety from fitna (temptation/strife) or harm. A woman must disembark if she fears for herself from the driver after all other passengers have exited. There are indicators of safety or lack thereof, such as the driver's appearance, the prevalence of harassment incidents in the area, or the time of day and the crowdedness of the streets. If the predominant assumption is safety and indicators of security appear, then there is no blame upon her for continuing the journey with the driver, provided that this is within the city and she keeps as much distance as possible from the driver, while also opening the window, even if slightly.
