The word "Zuwayyid" is likely a diminutive of the word "Zad," which means provisions that a person takes for their journey or residence, such as food and the like. It is mentioned in the Holy Quran that Allah Almighty says: "And take provisions, for indeed, the best provision is righteousness." And in the noble Hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the delegation of Abd al-Qays: "Do you have anything from your provisions?"
