How can patience be "for God" and "by God"? Does the one who is patient "with God" not grieve, and the one who is patient "away from God" not rejoice? What are the rulings on patience (obligatory, forbidden, permissible, disliked, recommended)? What is the ruling on a woman who was patient with her husband's injustice and then developed illnesses? Is this due to her lack of patience "for God and by God," or is it one of its necessities? Is a woman sinful if she is patient with an unjust husband while knowing the harms?

The statement: "He who is patient for Allah's sake and seeks Allah's help in that will never grieve, for he is patient with Allah. And he who is not patient for Allah's sake and does not seek Allah's help in that will never rejoice, for he is patient away from Allah," is generally good. One could object to it by saying that the patient person may grieve, as grief does not contradict patience. Similarly, one who is patient away from Allah may rejoice in this world, even if hardship often dominates their life. Patience through Allah is seeking His help to be patient, and the heart's reliance on and trust in Allah that He will grant patience, as Allah Almighty says: "And be patient, and your patience is not but through Allah."
