The answer

The basic ruling regarding drawing images of animate beings is prohibition. Some Shafi'i jurists believe that the prohibition includes images that have no real-world counterpart, while others hold that images where facial features are not clear are not prohibited.

As for using items that contain images in a way that demonstrates their lowliness (disrespectfully), such as sitting on them, it is not prohibited according to the majority of scholars, though it is disliked by the Malikis. This is based on the reasoning that demonstrating their lowliness removes the aspect of veneration that resembles idol worship. This is also supported by the Hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, reclined on two pillows that contained images after she had cut them from a curtain.

Accordingly, the presence of images in the house in a way that demonstrates their lowliness does not prevent the entry of angels.
