What is the ruling on a wife remaining deprived of visiting her family at her husband's request, fearing people's talk, especially since the husband prevented her from registering the marriage at the consulate and abandoned her for seven years?

The majority of scholars hold that a woman's marriage without a guardian (wali) is invalid, and this marriage must be annulled absolutely, even after consummation. It is permissible to remarry with the consent of the woman's guardian and her satisfaction. If the father's preventing his daughter from visiting her family and registering her marriage at the consulate is intended to compel her to annul the invalid marriage, then there is no sin in it, and boycotting her is considered a deterrent for her. This applies if the father is not unjustly preventing her marriage (adil). However, if he is unjustly preventing her marriage (adil), and the judge or his representative marries her, then her marriage is valid, and her father is not permitted to prevent her from visiting her family or doing anything that is in her interest.
