If a wife admits to adultery and gives birth to a child out of wedlock, and the husband discovers after eight years that li'an is impermissible after such a period, does the child become affiliated with the husband and inherit from him?

The fundamental principle is that a child born on the marital bed is attributed to the husband, based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "The child belongs to the bed (i.e., the husband), and for the fornicator is the stone (i.e., stoning or deprivation)." The mere confession of adultery by the wife does not necessitate the husband's denial of his child through mutual imprecation (li'an). For a child to be denied through li'an, it is a condition that the husband has not acknowledged the child or remained silent about denying him for a long period after becoming aware (of the situation). If the child's lineage is established with the husband, then all the rulings of sonship apply to him.
