Can someone who grew up as an orphan and of unknown parentage become a devout scholar, a Muhaddith, and an Imam for the people?
There is nothing preventing you from reaching high ranks except the machinations of Satan. Success lies in purifying the soul and cleansing it from sins, not in lineage. Noble lineage does not elevate a person's status with Allah if their soul is impure, nor does the lack of lineage harm them if they are pious. The criterion is piety and good deeds, not lineage; "Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you," "Indeed, Allah does not look at your outward forms and your wealth, but rather He looks at your hearts and your deeds." Seek help from Allah, do not surrender to Satan, and do not make yourself among those who sit idle. You must seek assistance from Allah and keep righteous company, and beware of the company of the idle and ignoble.
