A woman in post-natal bleeding (), if her bleeding stops even for a moment after childbirth, she should perform (ritual bath) and pray. If the bleeding continues, she waits for forty days. If the bleeding stops at any point within these forty days, she performs ghusl and prays. Otherwise, she completes the forty days, then performs ghusl and prays, even if the bleeding has not stopped, as any blood after forty days is considered irregular bleeding (istihada) and not nifas.
