What is the ruling on the prayer of a wife whose postpartum bleeding stopped after twenty days then resumed, and her husband advised her not to pray until forty days have passed?

It was obligatory for the wife to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) and pray upon seeing purity, because there is no minimum limit for nifas (definition) (postnatal bleeding). The blood that returns within the forty days is considered nifas, and what exceeds forty days is not nifas unless it coincides with the usual menstrual period.

If the wife abandoned prayer during the period of purity between the two bleeding episodes, she must make up those prayers. The questioner should ask people of knowledge regarding matters of Islamic law.
