What is the ruling on one who was in love and died while still enamored?

The ruling on love between a man and a woman varies depending on its causes:

- If a person has no agency or effort in it, such as one seeing the other and love for them falling into their heart, then if they fear Allah and are patient, and this does not lead them to seek what is forbidden, then they are rewarded and deserving of recompense, and it is hoped that they will be among the people of Paradise.

- If a person has agency and effort in it, such as letting their gaze wander, engaging in conversation, and other causes of temptation, then this love is forbidden, and whoever dies upon it before repenting dies in disobedience.
