Please, what is the ruling concerning one who loved and then repented?

Love is of two types: permissible and blameworthy. The permissible kind is the love of Allah, His Messenger, one's wife, and children. As for the blameworthy kind, it refers to emotional relationships between young men and women, which are the root cause of calamities and a prelude to immorality, as mentioned in the Hadith (definition) narrated by Abu Hurairah from the Prophet, peace be upon him: "The son of Adam has been allotted his share of adultery..." Repentance from this blameworthy love is obligatory.
