Is the use of the Most Beautiful Names of Allah —such as "Ya Hafiz" (O Protector) for protection or "Ya Salam" (O Source of Peace) for security— or the recitation of the verse "And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them" [Quran 7:180], or the last verse of Surah Al-Baqarah, as a supplication after prayer, considered an innovation (bid‘ah)?

It is permissible to supplicate using the Beautiful Names of Allah that are suitable for the request, such as "Ya Mughith, come to my aid." However, dedicating a specific supplication after prayer is an innovation (bid'ah). It is better to supplicate during the prayer itself. It has not been reported in the Sunnah to recite the verse "And to Allah belong the Beautiful Names" or the end of Surat Al-Baqarah after prayer. Rather, it has been reported to recite the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah every night, as they suffice one from staying up in prayer (qiyam al-layl), from Satan, and from all evil.
