How is "Indeed, Allah is with us" interpreted?

The texts of the Qur'an and Sunnah, and the consensus of the Companions, their Successors, and the Imams of Islam, indicate that Allah the Almighty has ascended over His Throne, above His heavens, distinct from His creation. The meaning of His saying, may He be exalted: "He is with you wherever you are," means by His knowledge. The statement that Allah Himself is in every place is clear disbelief, due to the false implications and contradictions to reason and revelation that necessarily follow from it, such as Allah entering impure places. Imam Ahmad presented a rational argument indicating that the belief in Allah being present everywhere is false, because Allah existed and there was no place, then He created place. So either He created it within Himself (which is disbelief), or He created it outside of Himself then entered into it (which is disbelief), or He created it outside of Himself and ascended above it (which is the truth).
