Should a meal or feast be prepared for a relative whose mother has passed away, in imitation of what was done when the father passed away?

There is no disagreement among scholars regarding the permissibility of gifting food to the family of the deceased, based on the hadith: "Prepare food for Ja'far's family, for that which preoccupies them has come to them." From this, it is inferred that preparing food for the family of the deceased is recommended, not obligatory.
