Is it permissible for a virgin, sane, adult, mature woman, over twenty years of age, to marry herself according to the school of Imam Abu Hanifa, especially if her guardian has fallen short in marrying her off and she fears falling into the forbidden, knowing that the law of her country allows her to do so after the age of eighteen?

Marriage of a woman without a wali (guardian) is invalid according to the majority of scholars, in contrast to Abu Hanifa's view. The wali does not have the right to prevent a woman from marrying someone who is suitable for her; otherwise, he would be considered an oppressor (ʿāḍil). In such a case, she has the right to refer her matter to a judge to marry her off or order her wali to marry her off. If no judge is available, then someone who acts in his stead from among the people of knowledge (scholars) may do so. She is obligated to honor her father and obey him in what is good and permissible.
