We do not know who said that the application reminding one to read the Qur'an every time the mobile phone is opened is an innovation (bid'ah). The ruling on this application is the same as the ruling on reading the Qur'an from a mobile phone screen, or contenting oneself with reading a single verse, or requesting a reminder to read the Qur'an upon opening the mobile phone, and all of these matters are permissible. The claim that the application diminishes the grandeur of the Book of Allah is incorrect. However, it can be said that other methods of reading the Qur'an are better and closer to glorifying recitation and benefiting from it, by observing the proper etiquette of recitation. This does not mean that using the application is forbidden or an innovation; rather, it means that Qur'an recitation deserves greater attention and reverence. People of the Qur'an do not need such applications. As for those who have forsaken recitation, this application is directed towards them, and it is not correct to say that it diminishes the grandeur of the Book of Allah. Using the application is permissible, but it is not the ideal way to engage with the Qur'an and to consistently complete its recitation and reflect upon it.
